What Is A Suspended Sentence?
A suspended sentence is when a sentencing judge specifies that amount of jail time you could face if your probation is revoked. You do not have to be found guilty of violating your probation to receive a suspended sentence. If your probation is ever revoked, you will serve the amount of time specified for the suspended sentence. The suspended sentence can be specified by a judge even if you are on probation, but it will not go into effect unless your probation is revoked.
